Tampa International Airport (IATA: TPA, ICAO: KTPA, FAA LID: TPA) is an international airport 9.7 km west of Downtown Tampa, Florida, United States. In 1940, the City of Tampa leased Drew Field to the U.S. Government for 25 years, and the USAF expanded and modernized the airport. The international flights began in 1950 and Drew Field was renamed Tampa International Airport. Now the airport is served by over twenty major air carrier airlines, four regional airlines, and three air cargo carriers. The airport presently serves 85 non-stop destinations throughout North America, Central America, the Caribbean, and Europe
